Simone Haack (born 1978) grew up in Gyhum, a former village of 400 inhabitants located between Bremen and Hamburg. The northern German landscapes of her childhood, in the Teufelsmoor, have left a lasting impression on her visual memory. She studied at the Bremen University of the Arts with Katharina Grosse and Karin Kneffel, of whom she is a student teacher. After a year of study at the Unitec School of Design in Auckland, New Zealand, she studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of the Dutch painter Pat Andrea. She recently received the Willi Oltmanns Prize for painting. Simone Haack lives and works in Berlin.
